Madeline Schwartzman is a native New Yorker who lives in Brooklyn with her husband Jeff Miles, and her own form of augmented reality–twin seven year old girls Ariel and Flora, who commute between New York and an alternate world called “TwinTok.” A graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, Schwartzman makes films and videos, writes and teaches. Her films have screened at festivals in the US and abroad, including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Walker Art Center’s Women with Vision Festival, and the New York Jewish Film Festival. She also wrote, produced and directed a feature-length comedy film called Aphrodisiac, about the search for Jesus Christ’s foreskin. She recently completed her first novel.
Schwartzman is a licensed architect and a long-term Professor (Adjunct) at Barnard College, Columbia University where she teaches architectural design. She is also a long-term Part-Time Associate Teaching Professor at Parsons: the New School for Design where she teaches foundation-level interdisciplinary design and drawing.
