DBD plasma creates many highly active free radicals and molecules, which can create intermediate by-products during water purification leading to increased environmental risk. Therefore, there may be a hidden threat to human health if
water treated by DBD plasma is used either for drinking, production of sensitive products for human consumption such
as foods and medicine, or cultivation of agricultural crops. Likewise, secondary pollution may be caused by the discharge
of plasma-treated water and wastewater to rivers, lakes or seas. In this research, the effect of treatment on bacteria, endotoxins and natural organic matter (NOM) in water by the DBD technique was investigated. In addition, the secondary pollution of water treated by DBD plasma was evaluated by acute toxicity. The aim of this study was to provide a scientific
reference for the continuous promotion and industrial application of the DBD technique
