Single parenting effects children mentally, emotionally as well as psychologically. In most instances juveniles don’t know how to deal with these emotions and as a result they deal with them by engaging in criminal activity to release built up frustration. Often times the single working parent lacks parent-child relationship because they lack adequate time to help their children deal with the frustration of having only one parent present in the home. Also one parent being present in a household, raising children on their own, tends to create feelings of discomfort, irritation, and anger to the parent as well as the child. On the other hand, two parents present in a home is a major advantage to juveniles in that at least one of the parents are almost always present to assist their children in coping with problems they may have. Single parent families have a great effect on children and their engagements in criminal activity. As a result, the children often times display their aggression by involving themselves in crime. These actions may be sought in order to gain attention they lack from the single working parent.
