In a schema-driven solution, for example, one should simply implement the solution without assessment unless or until something untoward occurs.
A simple-minded model that simply checks for assessments at a series of previously designated places (such as transition points between episodes and new information points) would miss the point entirely.
The utility of assessment is context-dependent, and much work needs to be done in specifying the contexts in which it is appropriate.
