When hiring Independent Contractors:
Require a clear Statement/Scope of Work that includes the purpose, specific deliverable elements and duration of the project.
Agree the hourly, day or project rate and set expense guidelines at the outset of the project. If no rates are defined, use the (regionally) negotiated rate cards for agency temps as a reference.
Subject to local laws, hire Independent Contractors for projects no longer than six months. They may be extended for three months only with written approval of the responsible regional HR VP, the RPO and the local MDLZ Legal Department.
An Independent Contractor’s work must be self-directed, with no close supervision of tasks/functions by MDLZ employees. Independent contractors must set their own schedules and work hours, in compliance with local laws.
