For example, an HR department will often handle all personnel record keeping, be responsible for the administration of insurance benefits, and conduct orientation programs for new associates. It will also typically place employment ads with the media and may conduct initial screenings of ne job applicants. At this point, the department that will be doing the hiring will often take over and make the final selection. Similarly, the HR department will often conduct a wide variety of training programs, but some of these will be conducted at the department level I the form of on-the-job training.
