This Single Honours degree programme draws on the expertise in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology of the staff in the department. In Year One, core modules provide an essential foundation in the history and archaeology of Greece and Rome and develop skills of historical and archaeological analysis, particularly criticism of sources. In Year Two, core modules continue to examine both the history and archaeology of the Greek and Roman worlds in greater depth, covering topics such as the Archaeology of Early Greece and Roman Britain, and Society and Culture in Classical Athens. In Year Three, a range of optional modules is supplemented by their dissertation which develops skills of independent research, argument and written presentation and gives you a chance to focus on a topic that you have a particular interest in. At all levels they can complement their programme with Greek or Latin language should they wish, or with modules on Egypt and the Near East.
