Total daily intake of OTA differsamong countries, based on total
diets or on consumption of some particular contaminated foodstuffs.
An Italian study on OTA showed that 72% of 185 analyzed
samples of milk-based infant formulae were positive at levels
ranging from 35.1 to 689.5 ng/l detected OTA under the EU legal limit in 27 samples of
pasta intended for children at levels between 0.09 and 0.52 mg/kg
with an average content of 0.3 mg/kg. Fourteen samples (51.85%)
showed OTA amount below 0.2 mg/kg, while eleven samples
(40.74%) showed a contamination level from 0.2 to 0.5 mg/kg. The
frequency of OTA in samples analyzed by in
commercial infant cereal-based baby foods for infants from the
Italian market was 60% at levels ranging from 0.05 to 0.120 mg/kg.
