It is usually helpful for the nurse to have raining in the use of interactive guided imagery because of possible overwhelming effects with this type of imagery (Rossman,1999). Otherwise, as Schaub and Dossey (2009) note, imagery scripts are more effective when one learns the speaking skills of voice modulation, specific word emphasis, and the use of pause. Guidelines for the nurse to use in teaching the client the imagery process are presented in Exhibit2.2.
