Thais are Futsal champions again
Not many people seem to have noticed yet, but Thailand has once again won the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship, beating a determined Australian team 5-3.
A capacity crowd of more than 12,000 packed the Bangkok Indoor Arena, expecting a comfortable victory for the hosts.
It wasn't. The Australians had won all five of their earlier matches and were a much tougher side than the one Thailand beat 6-0 in the 2014 final.
Thai star Kritsada Wongkaeo scored a hat-trick in the final.
In fact, the Aussies scored first in the 28th minute. The Thai fans were soon breathing easier, however, after their team scored two quick goals to take the lead.
Two more unanswered goals followed, but then the Australians scored two of their own, making the score 4-3 with two minutes to go.
Thai star Kritsada Wongkaeo put the game away in the final minute, however, converting from close range, his third goal of the match.
