In the past decades, activated sludge process has been becoming
the most worldwide popular biological process in treating different
types of wastewaters. In order to evaluate and predict the process
efficiencies of various WWTPs during the biological nutrient
removal, many advanced dynamic mathematical models have been
developed. Modeling is considered to be an inherent part of the
design and operation of a wastewater treatment system. These
models allow us to understand preferably the biological wastewater
treatment process and response to influence of variable
wastewater quality and process parameters in a more feasible and
cost-effective way.
