Biologics may be used alone or in combination with other RA medications, particularly methotrexate.[7] Clinical trials have shown that combination therapies result in superior rates of clinical remission than monotherapy does.[2,7] Some of the most commonly used biologics include etanercept, adalimumab, abatacept, and infliximab.[2] Factors to consider when choosing a biologic agent include individual patient factors, logistics of administration, and reimbursement.[7]
