Selecting topic: subjects used this strategy to draw on their knowledge from their long term-memory. They, then, chose an interesting topic before starting to write.
Organizing: the subjects generated, arranged or ordered the ideas in a logical sequence before using them in their writing.
Self questioning: the subjects wanted to proceed to new ideas before writing the ideas down. Then, they recalled ideas from memory and gathered new thoughts or ideas of that particular topic by asking themselves question(s).
