The first aim of this study is to compare ethnic majority and minority employees with
respect to content-related communication and job attitudes. Distinction has been made
between the content of communication and its relational aspects (. The content aspect of communication refers to the transmission of literal
information, i.e., the factual words that are being pronounced in a conversation, speech,
or text, while the relational aspect of communication refers to the transmission of affective
information pertaining to interaction at hand. Others have distinguished between
communication content and communication style, in which communication style has
been shortly defined as ‘‘the way content is communicated’’ (Norton, 1983, p. 12), with
both content and style implicating the relationship between communication partners.
