Colleagues,
I am pleased to let you know that the AGPL Board has appointed Giam Swiegers as Aurecon’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 February 2015. He will be based in our Sydney office.
Giam leaves his current role as Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte, Australia after a highly successful 12 years in this position. This appointment was made after a competitive and comprehensive internal and external global search.
We are confident that Giam will make an outstanding CEO for our business. He has an impressive track record as a CEO and is a great cultural fit for Aurecon. His South African background and experience in the US and Australia ties in well with our large footprint in both Australia and Africa.
Giam is a visionary leader whose commercial business focus and track record in problem solving for clients to deliver innovative solutions strongly aligns with Aurecon’s focus on client service excellence through industry knowledge, technical know-how and innovation.
He also has a track record in building a high performing, engaged culture and is a great strategic fit for us as an expanding global business.
Giam began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa, subsequently working for Deloitte in the USA before returning to become Managing Partner of the firm’s Tshwane office. He moved to Australia in 1997, becoming CEO on 1 June 2003. He has been a member of Deloitte’s Global Board and Global Board Governance Committee for three years and is a member of the Deloitte Global Executive Committee.
Under Giam’s leadership, we will continue to capitalise on the immense opportunities for Aurecon to lead in technology driven innovation and in tailoring its services to meet client needs around the entire infrastructure lifecycle.
I will shortly announce this appointment to both our clients and the media. Please note there is a media embargo on this until 5.30pm so do not share this information outside of Aurecon until after this time.
Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting appointment.
Warm regards,
