monoxide was measured at each visit using a Micro IV
Smokerlyzer (Bedfont Scientific). Withdrawal symptoms including
tobacco craving were assessed by means of the Wisconsin
Scale for Withdrawal Symptoms (eMethods 2 in the
Supplement) at randomization and up to 4 weeks after the
TQD.12 Each subscale ranges from 0 (no symptoms) to 4 (severe).
Tenminutes of smoking cessation counseling, based on
the 2008 update of the US Public Health Service guidelines,
was provided to all participants at each visit.1
