Sorry to have missed your Line message. I have just returned to Thailand yesterday evening and had a discussion this morning with Khun Panya regarding the production of the new style of Asian Reed.
I wanted to send you an email so that I can attached the photos and also keep the rest of the team informed of our discussion.
I think the main problem of the curl was that we did not not give enough time after extrusion for the reed to settle in ambient temperature.
With our rigid extrusion when we need to cut to length accurately, we leave the profiles for about 48hours after extrusion for the material to “settle down” and the molecules to align. If we cut to length immediately after extrusion, the profile will shrink and shorter by about 2-3mm after 2 days. I think this was what had happened to the reed where the memory came back right after.
We have left the reeds in the plant for 48 hours before exposing to sunlight. The reeds seems to be quite happy and did not curl up at all. I attach the photos on the reed when tested outdoors an also in the plant.
Understand from Khun Panya that we will be delivering some reeds to you this Saturday and will appreciate if you could check and let us know if the problem still persists.
