The function of the bandpass filter is based on the genrator principle: Two voltagecontrolled current sources form a gyrator by vvhich a capacitor is transformed into an induc- tor. This allows for the design of high-q filter circuits. Since a symbolic analysis of the complete circuit on transistor level would not be feasible the task is hierarchi- cally broken down into parts of reasonable size. First, the circuit is macro-modelled as shown in Figure 2 to calculate a symbolic expression for the transfer function of the entire system in terms of its macro block parameters (such as the transconductances of the VCCS stages). Later, the macro parameters will be computed symbolically as transfer functions of the analog building blocks which realize the individual macro functions.
