The Fluent® provides with the facilities to post-process the data and display the necessary contour, vector and profile plots of pressures, velocities, volume fractions, etc, of individual phases. After achieving the convergence condition, contour plots of solid phase were examined for each simulation. Using these plots, the characteristics of the flow across the pipe bend could be understood. In particular, the plots of contours of volume fraction are showing the flow behaviour of each phase which is very difficult to observe during the experimentations. In order to conserve the length of this paper, only representative results of the numerical simulations are given here.
The results are categorised into two groups and presented here. Firstly, the variation of solid volume fraction is observed within the calculation domain while the pressure drop determination and comparison with experimental data are given at the end.
