The heat loss of cavity receiver has a marked influence on the performance of the entire system. In this section, a 2D mathematical model of V-shaped cavity receiver was developed to investigate the heat losses of different types of linear cavity receiver. By employing the Fluent CFD package, entire heat transfer mechanisms including radiation, convection and conduction involved in the energy transfer were analyzed. The simulation was validated by comparing numerical results with the experimental results. In addition, the thermal performance of the proposed Fresnel lens collector was obtained experimentally at different operation temperatures.
