For the remaining sampling
points examined (pig and abattoir), the number of isolates recovered
was low (7/80, 2/80, 0/80 and 1/80 positive samples in post-scalding,
post-flaming, post-evisceration and post-washed stages, respectively);
of note however were 18 isolates obtained from different environmental
samples (knives and surface of tables) (5.63%; CI95 3.08–8.12) and 3
isolates in the quartering plant samples (ham, shoulder and loin)
(3.75%; CI95 1.28–10.45) (Table 1).
