The genus Pseudomonas was originally created by Migula
(1894). Bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas belong to
the Gammaproteobacteria and are aerobic, chemoorganotrophic,
non-spore-forming, motile, Gram-negative
rods with polar flagella and a respiratory rather than a
fermentative metabolism (Palleroni, 1984; Timmis, 2002).
