A hospital may have one or two qualified speech therapists whose duties may extend to outside clinics and school. Some of their work is concerned with the young whose speech impediments may include poor pronunciation and stammering or inadequate and immature vocabulary. Other referrals may be as a result of surgical intervention or following nervous system injuries.
