The goal of controlled-release delivery systems is to provide
desirable delivery patterns so that predictable plasma drug levels can
be achieved, which requires the characterization of the basic
pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of a drug. For
metronizadole (MET) studied here, it has been found that it absorbs at
330 nm [22,23] and its incorporation affected the morphology of a
NRL membrane with formation of MET domains in the polymeric
matrix [23]. A key point now is to find out how MET interacts with a
NRL membrane and how it can be incorporated and released from this
membrane.
