The best results were obtained with MgSO4 and PSA, being an effective clean-up step to obtain cleaner extracts with smaller amounts of co-extractives. Thus, an aliquot of 2 mL of extract was transferred for the clean-up step using 120 mg MgSO4 and 100 mg PSA, to remove undesired components present in the matrix extract, such as pigments, lipids, sugars and wax, confirmed by the lower matrix effect and less unknown peaks in the chromatograms.
