3.1. Survey of low cost substrate and marinederived strain favouring inulinase production
Although inulinase was initially isolated from plants, it is dif-ficult to obtain high production . In the last decades, a large number of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungi were used for inulinase production In order to select the best solid substrate (inuline source) and the fungal strain for inulinase production, six agro industrial wastes (low cost substrates) were checked for their effect on inulinase production by four marinederived fungal isolates, A. terreus, A. versicolor, A. parasiticus and P. brevicompactum, locally isolated from decayed wood samples collected from Ismalia, Egypt.
