6.4 Experiment iv: Standardisation of storage techniques
It is evidenced from the present study that storage conditions and cultivars
significantly influenced the colour fading on storage. Flowers stored in cardboard boxes
without any lining proved to be better than those stored by inserting in polythene covers with
respect to retention of colour on storage. Varietal difference was also found to be significant
for retention of colour on storage wherein cv. ‘Lambada’ retained the colour for long time.
Damage to flowers was found to be minimum as the flowers were handled with utmost care.
