Methodology
The sample was 14 (n = 14) professional
basketball coaches who coached their teams
which played for the Greek championship
during the 1997-1998 season. The Greek
professional basketball league is composed of
14 teams. In this research the perceptions of
13 professional basketball coaches were
examined. One case was excluded from the
research due to the continuous changes of
coaches in the early season which did not
permit valid answers. Questionnaires
included questions regarding means of
communication used by coaches and the main
problems that they faced during the playing
season in their effort to communicate with
their athletes during practices and games.
