W.H.F. Talbot, whose early venture into originating a photographic process resulted in the cameraless photogram, soon realized that such negative images could be used to make positive prints. In 1841, he not only patented the calotype method, but also helped to set up a studio and printing establishment where he could produce images for hNmself and others. In effect, Talbot foresaw and participated in the industrialization of photography.
