3.2. Effects of operational conditions in three-phasic STB cultivations
Following observation of the combined effects of the cultivation conditions in shake flasks, both untreated and pretreated sugarcane bagasse were used in three-phasic STB cultivations to further evaluate the influence of cultivation method, agitation speed, pH control, and sugarcane bagasse particle size on (hemi) cellulolytic enzymes production. A preliminary set of experiments were designed using the OVAT approach, due to the complexity of cultivation in the STB. After these preliminary experiments, a 22 full factorial design was used to investigate the significance of the effects of the type of sugarcane bagasse and agitation speed on enzyme production.
