For briquetting tests, sufficiently mature dry soda weeds were collected from the fields within the university campus, then the weeds were chopped with a local thresher having finger type beater. Chopped materials were screened using a sieve of 10 mm diameter. Because approximately half of the materials were greater than 10 mm size, these materials consisting of firm fractions of the weed were further processed in a hammer mill with 6 mm sieve. Resulting materials obtained from both the thresher and the hammer mill were mixed homogenously and used for briquetting.
