Traditional Musical Instruments
The bagpipe is a very old instrument. The Romans were playing bagpipes in the first century AD. From there it travelled through European countries and reached Scotland The bagpipe is a wind instrument usually made from sheepskin.It has got four parts; a pipe called a chanter with finger holes‚ a bag that fills with air a blowpipe that the player blows through and up to six tubes called drones comming out of the bag.Bagpipes are loud and take a lot of skill to play.In the past‚Scotland armies played them in battles to scare the enemy. Today‚the army still uses them.You can also hear them at Scottish festivals and celebrations.
