2.4. Statistical analysis
One-way analyses of variance (ANOVA) were used to determine
the statistical significance differences between species
for growth indices (DBH and tree height), aboveground
biomass (all compartments), nutrients and carbon content.
Multiple comparisons of means were conducted using LSD or
Duncan tests with a statistical significance of 0.05 probability
level. A set of equations to estimate aboveground
biomass by tree compartment and whole tree, based on DBH
(tree diameter at breast height in cm) as the independent
variable, was developed for each of the studied species using
simple linear regression analysis. We tested the equation best
goodness of fit by judging the resulting MSE (mean squared
error) and the adjusted r2.
