The History and Evolution of Home Video Gaming.
While Magnavox was the first company to release a home video gaming console to the market back in 1972, it was in 1951 that the idea for an interactive TV set was born. Ralph Baer, the mastermind behind the idea, only fully realised his dream in 1966 when he developed Chase, a two player game that was made up of two dots controlled by players, with the end goal of catching each other onscreen. While the idea was intended for sale to TV network companies, it was Magnavox that developed the platform for a smaller box called the Odyssey, and so began the First Generation of home video gaming, which lasted until 1977.
