In another case series, 15 cases of primary pleural mesothelioma
were detected on histopathological examination
of 76 239 surgical biopsies, of which 234 were pleural
specimens, giving an incidence of 0.02% and 6.4%, respectively.
The authors lamented the late reporting of the
cases, which created difficulty in establishing a diagnosis
and differentiating them from cases of primary lung adenocarcinoma
or metastatic tumor [33].
