Weight loss was very low, and similar in AC and EC fruit, during the whole storage period in both Navelate (Table 2) and Lane Late oranges (Table 3) kept either at 2 or 12◦C. The increase in weight loss occurring after SL simulation was higher in Lane Late oranges,which were less susceptible than Navelate oranges to NCPP. Although weight loss was very low, this result reinforces the idea that dehydration is not the only factor responsible for NCPP development (Cajuste and Lafuente, 2007), and points out the relevance of genetic factors in the susceptibility of citrus fruit to this physiological disorder.
