Regularity of variance: If a variance happen only once it is not really a problem but if it's happenig all the time that may indicate some problem with budget targets and you might need to investigate and the information used or that area is not performing as expected.
Size of the variance: If the variances is really big the manager will chase it to see what happened but if the variances is really small no one will bothered what happened
Cost of investigation: It is worth it to spend the money to investigate to see what's happen.It will depends how much is the variances
Consequences of investigation: Have you got the authority or can action be taken by others?If variances are taken place for any reasons can you take any actions?
