2.10.1. Sample extraction
Six grams of powdered freeze-dried leaves, branches, and fruit(green, red, and black) of three Morus species (M. atropurpurea, M.laevigata and M. alba), were independently extracted twice with100 mL of 75% methanol by refluxing at 80◦C for 3 h each time. Thetwo extracts were combined and concentrated under a vacuum andthe residue was adjusted to 10 mL by adding 75% methanol; eachextracts was then stored at −4◦C to analyze its antioxidant activity.2.10.2. Total phenolics contentTotal phenolics content was determined following the methodof Velioglu et al. (1998). Briefly, the 300 L of 75% methanol extractsolution (1 mg/mL) was mixed with 2.25 mL of 10% Folin–Ciocalteusolution and was then ultrasonically shaken for 5 min. It was then added
