Torque converter problems can often be identified by
the symptoms and therefore the need for a stall test is
minimized. If the vehicle lacks power during acceleration, it
has a restricted exhaust or the torque converters one-way
stator clutch is slipping. To determine which of these
problems is causing the power loss, test for a restricted
exhaust first. Other possible causes of this problem
include a restricted air or fuel filter and a defective fuel
pump.
