Abstract
The purposes of the research were (1) to develop ability in remembering English vocabulary by applying the memorization model of teaching for English major students, (2) to compare the ability of the experimental group, applying the memorization model of teaching with the ability of the control group, remembering English vocabulary by rote, and (3) to study the opinions of the students applying the model, the actual performance of applying the model, and the suggestions concerning the model application.
The samples of 66 third-year English major students were purposefully sampled to be assigned equally into the experimental, and the control groups of 33 ones. The instruments used for the research were the test of English vocabulary constructed by the researcher with the reliability value of .93, the 12 lesson plans, and the five- rating scale questionnaire. The data analyzed by arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and t-test.
