According to Halperin (1990) sexuality is such a
profound and pervasive aspect of our personhood that we cannot realy understand ourselves apart from our sexuality.Hewrote:"Sexualityholdsthekeytounlocking the deepest mysteries of the human personality: it lies at the centre of the hermeneutics of the self" (p. 26). Sexuality affects us and expresses itself in varied ways as we progress through the different stages of development toward maturity. Accordingly our understanding of ourselves as human persons will also vary at different stages of our development, and affect our self-identity, our behaviour and our relationships.
