Ken Wallentine, Chief of Law Enforcement for the Utah Attorney General,
summed this topic up nicely when he wrote, “Act on the answers. Improve the policy.
Enhance training. Get the best tools available. Support the officers involved. Stay
safe.” He also stated “contrary to public belief, police rarely use force. Any veteran cop will tell you that he or she uses interpersonal communication skills infinitely more often than arrest control techniques” (Wallentine, 2012, para 11).
