3. Results
The data presented in Table 1 indicates the time taken for each
agent to cool to 70 8C, 60 8C and 53 8C. All liquids poured into a
porcelain mug had cooled to 70 8C by 8 min and 60 8C by
19 min. The time taken to reach 53 8C ranged from 21 to
27 min. The liquids that were tested in both porcelain mugsand a saucepan (i.e. water, Indian tea and milk) cooled at a
faster rate in the saucepan, for identical volumes (time to
70 8C, 60 8C and 53 8C ranging from 5 to 7 min, 10 to 13 min and
15 to 18 min, respectively).
