Greening of Process refers to our initiatives aimed at minimizing inputs such as materials and energy in manufacturing
processes globally, reducing the discharge of waste and
chemical substances, and keeping environmental impacts
to a minimum—even if production increases. In FY2012, by
reducing power consumption for air conditioning and lighting, restricting the use of electricity, conducting global energy-saving diagnosis, making production adjustments, and
taking other measures, Toshiba Group reduced its total green-house gas emissions to less than half of the FY1990 level (2.76
million tons). We will strive to both increase productivity and
reduce environmental impacts in all three areas: mitigation of
climate change, effective use of resources, and management
of chemicals. Thus we aim to increase eco-efficiency to 1.5
times the FY2000 level and pursue the world’s lowest level of
environmental impacts by FY2015
