A wide ranging examination is presented of many aspects of tourism. The 17 chapters are divided into five main sections. Section III examines tourism marketing and promotion: tourism market segments and travel psychology; tourism marketing; and tourism research and forecasting. Section IV focuses on tourism impacts: contributions of tourism to economic development; social and cultural aspects of tourism; and sustainable tourism and the environment. Section V considers tourism policy and planning: the role of government in tourism policy and administration; the role of international and regional organizations in tourism; tourism planning and destination development; tourism human resources planning and development; and conclusions.
