Of the 100 garments surveyed, 15 did not have pockets. Of the remaining 85 garments, 100% of the tracksuit tops, cardigans, jumpers and zip up tops examined (n = 16) presented paint flakes (see Table 1). A large percentage of coats, jackets, hooded tops and jeans (n = 50) also possessed paint flakes (72–83%). In total, more paint flakes were recovered from pockets (344) compared with surfaces (223).
