Care workers play an important role in supporting
individuals to manage their personal hygiene needs and,
wherever possible, individuals should be encouraged and
supported to carry out their own personal hygiene routines.
This will ensure personal care routines are an enjoyable
experience while maximising the health and safety
and wellbeing of the individual. Personal care routines
should also take into consideration the individual’s needs,
preferences and personal beliefs (Nolan et al, 2011).
