An exercise tolerance test, more specifically a 6- minute walk test (6MWT), is another diagnostic screen that may be used to assess and monitor Pulmonary hypertension. A healthy individual is able to walk a minimum of 500 meters in 6 minutes, whereas a patient with moderate Pulmonary hypertension may be able to walk only 300 meters. The 6MWT is simple to administer, inexpensive, reproducible, and well standardized. Finger oxygen saturation and dyspnea on exertion are recorded in addition to walk distance.
