This is best illustrated by an example.
Volume of Trapped Plasma:
Galvanometer Reading of Test Sample: 23
Galvanometer Reading of Standard : 50
Volume of Dyed Plasma in Standard: 0.02 ml.
Volume of Trapped Plasma = X 0.02 0.0092 ml.
Volume of Packed Red Cell Column:
for a Wintrobe tube of radius 0.15 cm. and a packed red cell column of height 4.55 cm. Vol. = 4.55 X (0.15)2 X r = 0.322 ml.
Corrected for Volume of Red Cells ins 5.0 ml. Flask: 5.0 - 0.322 = 4.678 therefore, Corrected Volume of Trapped Plasma: 4.678
0.0092 X = 0.0086 ml.
Trapped Plasma Expressed as % of Observed Red Cell Column:
T.P. = OA)086 X 100 = 2.67% 0.322
