This example illustrates the importance of implementation
science competencies in interprofessional
global health education. Process evaluations using
both qualitative and quantitative techniques are critically
important when implementing global health
programs that often require continuous modifications
and improvements. It is also important to note the
value of the “real life” nature of field experiences. The
work of certificate students had real consequences to
this Nigerian program and led to important changes
that increased the effectiveness of the interprofessional
training given to these Nigerian health care
workers undergoing task shifting.38
